Flieg Score

The Flieg score index is frequently used to evaluate the silage quality of gramineous forages, such as corn silage.

The Flieg score with value 81-100, 61-80, 41-60, 21-40 and 0-20 represents the silage quality as very good, good, medium, low and poor, respectively.

V-score

The V-score index is commonly applied to assess the silage quality of leguminous forages, such as alfalfa silage.

The V-score method was adopted to evaluate the silage quality using a 100-point scale as below: < 60 (bad), 60–80 (moderate) and 81–100 (good).

RFV

The RFV index, which is associated with animal nutrition, is often utilized for forage evaluation.

RFV, indicating forage quality, is >151 for top quality, 125–151 for first quality, 103–124 for second quality , 87–102 for third quality, 75–86 for fourth quality, and <75 for fifth quality.
